ACAPULCO Flood Disaster Relief
Dear RLC Friends,
We have a great opportunity to serve! Please view the video at this link http://www.today.com/video/today/53060040/#53060040
As many of you have heard, there has been severe flooding, mud slides, at least 97 deaths and hundreds missing in Mexico, including the West Coast city of Acapulco. This has mostly been among the poor who live in makeshift mountainside homes around the resort city. Pastor John lived in Acapulco as a child and has recently reconnected with the city and established a relationship with Pastor Geraldo Mancera of Casa de Oracion a Las Naciones (House of Prayer for the Nations). This is a Christian, Spirit Filled, Evangelical church located on the same street where Pastor John used to live! They have recently visited some of the hard hit areas and we have offered to send relief supplies and funds to help. We will ship the items to Laredo TX where a member of their church will be visiting. They will pick up the supplies in two weeks and return to Acapulco.
To keep things simple, we will focus on the following:
- Financial donations
- Like New/ Lightly Used Clothing (no stains, tears, etc.) of all sizes. Especially children’s clothing.
You can mail checks to RiverLife Chapel, 3474 Creek Rd. Youngstown, NY 14174 or bring a donation with you on Sunday. Clothing can be brought in on Sunday, or you can call Pastor John to arrange a drop off time 716.745.9040.
The need is naturally overwhelming, but doing our small part will make things less overwhelming for the few that we are able to help. Please do something. Even if it seems small in your eyes, little becomes much in the hands of God!
We are aiming to have all clothing donated this Sunday, the 22nd and completed next Sunday, the 29th. We aim to ship all clothing Monday, September 30th in order to have them arrive in Laredo, TX in time for the church to pick them up and deliver them to Acapulco.
Thank you all for stepping up to the call of Christ to be His hands and feet to those in need! Please keep the people of ‘ACA’ in your prayers.
